About Frisco, TX
Frisco is a booming suburb of Dallas located in Collin and Denton Counties. It is a community of about 188,000 people. Frisco was the nation’s fastest-growing city from 2000 to 2009, and again in 2017. In 2018, it was named Money Magazine’s #1 “Best Place to Live” in every metric, including job growth and outstanding public schools.
Frisco got its start as a pioneer settlement when Texas was admitted to the Union in 1845. Families arrived by way of a footpath-turned-trail that ran from the Red River to Austin. This trail was called Preston Trail, and later became the Shawnee Trail, a major route for longhorn cattle drives. The community of Lebanon was founded in modern-day Frisco. The St. Louis-San Francisco Railway came through town in 1902, and Lebanon became a watering hole stop for the steam engines to use.
This led to the beginning of a population boom. In 1904, residents renamed the town Frisco City, later shortened to Frisco, in honor of the San Francisco Railway. Its modern population surge began in the 1980’s and has been going strong ever since.
Frisco is the home of Stonebriar Mall, a 310,000 square foot IKEA, the Dr. Pepper Ballpark, Toyota Stadium, the Comerica Center, and the Ford Center at the Star. Still, it is mostly a sought-after upscale residential community where many workers come home to after commuting from their jobs in Dallas and Plano.
Frisco Roofing Concerns
Frisco roofs are frequently pummeled by hail and high winds. Both of these hazards peak during the stormy season between March and May, and both can wreak havoc on roofs of all kinds. Frisco’s North Texas location puts it at the southern end of Tornado Alley, the part of the US that gets the most tornadoes and severe storms each year. We recommend having a professional roof inspection after major storms pass through your Frisco neighborhood.
